over the last few days we been staying in school to finish editing, it took a long time to edit this but i think we did it justice in the end. We didn't end up using the rewind effect because it was a bit complicated and time consuming, so we left it out. However we got most of the transitions/video effects done to a satisfactory level so over all i'll say im happy with the final product although i know it could of been better.
This is the final cut of our thriller 'Live To Tell' directed by me Deon and Richard.
We managed to get a chance at editing our thriller again, and its starting to look better and sound better. We made a lot of changes due to the some of the feedback we got from fellow students who we asked to watch and tell us their thoughts on it.
The chase scene is the only part were having trouble editing with because we want to find a sound that will go with the running and make the scene create more tension and suspense but its not really working. Richard found Garage band which is a sound maker software on the iMacs so he attempted to make his own beat.
Here's a screen shot of Garage band:
Hopefully by tomorrow we're sorted with a sound for the chase scene or might not even use a sound, depends really. And also try and finish the whole film so we can finally burn it to dvd...
Yesterday we showed a few of the students our thriller opening sequence and asked what they thought of it and what we could do to improve and here's some of the feedback
Improvements
"Remove sound from the chase scene"
"It's good"
"i didn't understand it" but then we explained it to her afterwards
"i like the settings and location choices, but take away the effect on the photos"
Overall i think it was constructive criticism and we took it into account and changed up a few things to our film to make it more understandable and look more appealing to our target audience. Hopefully our final product comes out how we expect it to along with how our target audience expect it too come out aswell.
Well today i went to a shop which fixes/sells electronics ect. and i asked if he had an imac or any sort of Apple computer/ laptop and he said he has one that came in for repair. I then asked if we could use it while it's still in the shop, cause we needed imovies to finsih it on and he siad alright but when hes fixed it i could come. i didnt want to tell the group yet until i knew for sure that we could use it so i didnt get their hopes up.
I left and came back later around 6 and he said he still hasn't looked at it yet so i said could i come tommorw and he said he might not have it tomorrow so i said its alright then nevermind.
Soo it looks like were running our of time and still havent finished editing :(...
The last thing i had in mind was to ask two students which also go to my school who had macs, if they could let my group use it. But again Alex the first guy said he weren't even in London and he's coming back on the weekend, and William the second guy also said he's 'not in the ends' and hes coming back on the weekend so there was no chance of us using it...what a coincidence.
Today i went to school to give back the camera we used for filming, which i had arranged with my teacher a few days before. I told Richard one of my group members about it andhe said we might aswell try and see if any of the teachers could allow us to use the mac suite to finsih editing but we did keep in mind that beauces its the holiday not a lot of teachers will be in school.
When i got there first there were no teachers around except fo one who was in the office who i gave the camera to. But she's not a teacher who would have access to that room so we couldn't finish editing. Which me and Richard were really disappointed about because we ned to finish editing ou film otherwise we won't pass.
On a lighter note, hopefully we can find a mac to use before the 16th which is the deadline i think.
Cameron, a fellow media studies student has an mac that he used during the official editing days, so i was hoping he could help us by letting our group use it to finish ours but he said he's busy all week and Friday he an his group wee going to finish editing theirs. I told Richard that my backup plan failed so were going to have to think of using something else.
